Blackduck is a small town in northern Minnesota with a big focus on community and growth. The city manages several local spots, including the Blackduck Golf Course, The Pond restaurant, and the Chamber of Commerce. They were ready to update their online presence to better connect with residents and visitors and to highlight all the great things happening in town.

The Challenge

The City of Blackduck needed a modernized digital presence to better serve residents and attract visitors. Their existing website lacked functionality, accessibility, and ease of navigation, making it difficult to provide essential city updates, services, and news. Additionally, they were dissatisfied with their current provider and sought a fresh look while reducing costs. The key challenge was developing a user-friendly website that maintained Blackduck’s small-town charm while staying within budget and on schedule.

The Strategy

Pinnacle Marketing Group tackled these challenges by designing a responsive, easy-to-navigate website tailored to Blackduck’s needs. The city had two options with the creation of their website: keep various city-owned organizations on one site or create separate websites for the golf course, restaurant, and Chamber of Commerce. To enhance SEO and user experience, they opted for separate sites.

Beyond website development, PMG provided:

  • Digitization of the city and chamber logos.
  • Seasonal video ad campaigns with four 30-second videos, generating 250+ clicks across metro Minnesota and western North Dakota.
  • Chamber of Commerce rebranding, including a new website to support local businesses, promote events, and boost economic growth.
  • Blackduck Municipal Golf Course digital transformation, featuring an online booking system and improved marketing strategy, leading to increased engagement and reservations.
  • The Pond’s online presence revamp, making it easier for customers to access business hours, promotions, and events.
  • A dedicated page for Pine Tree Park & Campground within the city website, along with new logo and branding to promote the campground’s site options, seasonal availability, and reservation details.
