How to Spot AI Generated Videos in Your Social Feed

Cartoon Mona Lisa with a speech bubble reading “How to Spot AI on Social Media!” and a magnifying glass highlighting her distorted hand.

If your social feed has been overflowing with videos that seem just a little too wild to be real, you are not alone. AI generated videos, once easy to spot, are now impressively convincing. From fake news clips to fabricated celebrity moments to animals doing things that defy nature, these hyper real videos are becoming more common every day.

Even these adorable bouncing bunnies aren’t what they seem. The AI video below is what sparked this topic of conversation in our office, showing just how difficult it has become to tell what’s real and what’s fake.

At Pinnacle Marketing Group, we believe staying digitally savvy is essential, especially as AI content becomes more widespread. Whether you are browsing for fun or evaluating content for your business, here are the top tell-tale signs that what you’re watching may not be real.

1. Blurry or Unnatural Camera Quality

Many AI generated videos struggle to recreate natural camera behavior. Look out for:

  • Overly smooth footage with no normal motion blur
  • Unnaturally crisp subjects paired with blurry or warped backgrounds
  • Inconsistent lighting or shadows

It often feels like watching a dream sequence. Familiar, but off.

2. Strange or Hidden Watermarks

AI tools sometimes leave partial, distorted, or repeated watermarks behind. These might appear as:

  • Random letters or symbols in corners
  • Faint logos that do not match the supposed source
  • Repeated patterns in places they should not be

Authentic videos rarely include this type of anomaly.

3. Distorted Features or Odd Transformations

One of the biggest giveaways is when objects or people subtly “morph.” Pay attention to:

  • Hands, eyes, or mouths shifting unnaturally
  • Text that flickers or changes between frames
  • Clothing or accessories that seem to rearrange themselves

If something in the frame looks like it is melting, warping, or glitching, you are likely watching AI at work.

4. An Unbelievable Scenario

Sometimes the easiest indicator is simply the content itself. Ask yourself:

  • Does this seem physically impossible?
  • Would this source, celebrity, or news outlet really post something like this?
  • Does the moment feel exaggerated or too cinematic?

When a clip pushes the boundaries of reality in a way even viral videos typically do not, it may be synthetic.

5. Perfectly Imperfect… but Not Quite Right

Even the most advanced AI video tools still miss small details that humans rarely overlook. Watch for:

  • Strange reflections in mirrors or windows
  • Background people behaving identically or looping movements
  • Lip sync that is close, but not perfect

These subtle inconsistencies can help you verify whether a video is genuine.

Stay Smart, Stay Skeptical

AI video tools are improving fast, and distinguishing real from fake is becoming more challenging every day. With a sharp eye and a little digital awareness, you can navigate your feed with confidence.

At Pinnacle Marketing Group, we are passionate about helping businesses stay ahead of trends in technology and media. If you are interested in leveraging AI safely, or ensuring your brand stays credible in an AI driven world, we are here to help.
