The “How To” Guide for Google My Business
Having a digital presence is a necessity in today’s technology driven world. Making sure your business information is correct and current is probably the most important step. Your business is your bread and butter, so claiming it on Google My Business only makes sense. The steps are easy and once you’re done, Google will have all the information it needs to get your business on the map. When you update your information, you are more likely to appear on Google when customers search for you, show up on mapping, and let you respond to customer reviews, which helps build loyalty. And the best part? It’s completely free.
To add your business listing, first go to Google My Business. Here you will find a step-by-step process on how to get your business information added. Click the Manage Now button and away you go. You will be asked to type in your business name, address, and if you deliver services to your customers.
Next a map will appear where you will be prompted to locate your exact location for ease of reference. Once you have pinpointed your location, you will be able to choose a category that fits your business. This helps your customers find you when they are looking.
Contact details, like your phone number and website URL are next. After that it’s as easy as clicking the next button and you are ready to verify that the business is indeed yours. A post card by mail (to the physical address of your store) will be sent out and you should receive it in around 5 days. Just type in the contact name and click Mail. After which you will be directed to your new Google My Business listing page.
On the Google My Business listing page, you can decide to take part in features like advertising, connecting with others by joining a discussion group of like-minded business owners, uploading photos, or following reviews. This is also where you can complete your listings by adding your business hours, a description of your services and even add a profile picture. This section may seem a bit overwhelming which is why having someone help you who is Google certified may be a good option.
